11/30/2023 0 Comments All battleblock theater cutscenes![]() I am glad I finally returned to the game and despite the horrors I have no experienced I am grateful I managed to beat it on Insane mode and finally put this game to rest. As a game I used to play on co-op when I was younger. Also note, if solo insane has a difficulty of 23 arbitrary units then co-op insane has a difficulty of 230 arbitrary units.Īt the end of the day, this game will always hold a special place in my heart. If you are using a controller +1 point, if you are on Normal +1 and if you are in Co-op then +2 but capped at 6/10. Overall, the gameplay rating depends on how you play the game. So, you have a choice between Normal (Boring) Mode or Insane (Hellscape) Mode. The problem with Normal mode, is that this game seems like it would get boring especially on your own because a lot of the levels look the exact same. The game also just feels bad without a controller, keyboard is not a fun way to play this game and I found myself dying on several occasions because I just messed up my finger placement (like holding left (D) and then needing to grab onto a ladder (R) mucked me up a few times) and there were multiply instances where I just accidentally killed myself because I accidentally pressed Q too many times and threw a grenade into a wall I was standing next to. You also get a handful of weapons to play around with, although I only ever swapped between two weapons I knew were already good ones (which I massively regret now because there are other REALLY great ones) so I never experimented or got to enjoy using the other weapons. I can't describe to you how painfully difficult this game gets on Insane mode, especially the encore levels (which are the optional levels you can play after the finales on each chapter, they are insanely difficult even more so than the normal levels). The traps and enemies are all unfair in their own way and down right peeve me off sometimes (shout out to that cat who managed to fling my own grenade back at me on two seperate occasions at the end of a level). Sometimes there are puzzle sections, these are a joy the first time you play them but after that they become a barrier because you have to beat them EVERY SINGLE TIME you die and it is even worse when they place these tedious time-consuming puzzles at the start of levels instead of near the end. In finale levels, you are supposed to be limited by time which can be intense on Normal but on Insane the timer just straight up resets when you die and get sent back to the start so finales just felt like every other level because I only had to worry about the timer on one of these finales. With checkpoints it makes more sense, but without it is just depressingly difficult. Previous sections of levels which would've been slightly annoying to get through are now death trap choke points you have to just hope you can pass! The game is awfully unbalanced, some sections of levels will be the easiest thing ever where other things are just saddening. This doesn't seem so bad, but especially in the later levels which turn into painstakingly-difficult, unbalanced, RNG BULLSHIRT it just brings things to a whole nother level. In Insane mode, if you die you go back to the start of the level. This game definitely wasn't designed to be played on Insane mode. This makes some of Spelunky's achievements look like a cakewalk (Low Scorer is still more horrifying though). ![]() ![]() Oh how, WRONG I WAS! I didn't know I was for 13.6 HOURS OF TORTURE! This is one of the most painful, horrifying and downright awful experiences I have had in a long time. Insane mode changes this fun, friendly and somewhat challenging platformer game targeted towards children to a HELLISH NIGHTMARE ABOMINATION CRAFTED IN THE FIRES AND THE BOWELS OF HELL BY SATAN HIMSELF!!! A little change they said, no checkpoints they said, what could be so hard I said. Normal mode is a fun but somewhat challenging version of the game, but. ![]() Then you have the option between Normal mode and Insane mode. Co-op definitely seems more fun than Solo, but Solo can still be enjoyable. The main focus of the game will definitely be the campaign mode, which can be played Solo or Co-op. There is an arena mode which is okay, but is boring without friends. ![]()
